A chemist by profession Hayter had an unrivalled knowledge of the technical aspect of printmaking and it was at his studio that some of the most experimental prints of the 20th Century were created. Stanley William Hayter's own work reflects this experimental nature.
Stanley William Hayter died in 1988.
